“El mundo es inestable. El nacimiento es una desgracia. La vejez es una desgracia. ¡Tengan cuidado!” dice un poema Sánscrito. Mientras están vivos, todos parecerían amar el cuerpo. Esto es por razones puramente egoístas. Dios es el único totalmente desinteresado. Amen a Dios y lleven vidas normales; no hay nada de malo en ello. Cualquier cosa que hagan, considérenla una ofrenda a Dios. Vean a Dios en cada persona. No sientan mala voluntad para con nadie. No tengan demasiado apego para con nadie. Dirijan todo su apego hacia Dios. Amen a todos. No confíen en nadie sino en Dios. Tomen conciencia de la inestabilidad del cuerpo y depositen su confianza solamente en Dios. Busquen refugio en Él. Lo que más se necesita hoy en día en esta era Kali es la fe. Lo más seguido posible, cuando tengan la oportunidad, mediten sobre Dios. Gánense el aprecio de la sociedad a
través del servicio sincero. Eso les asegurará un buen futuro. (Discurso Divino, agosto de 1996)

 

“The world is impermanent. Birth is a misery. Old age is a misery. Be careful!» says a Sanskrit poem. As long as you are alive, everyone would seem to love the body. This is for purely selfish reasons. God alone is utterly selfless. Love God and lead your normal lives; there is nothing wrong in this. Whatever you do, treat it as an offering to God. See God in everyone. Don’t have ill will towards anyone. Do not have excessive attachment for anyone. Direct all attachment towards God. Love all. Do not rely on anyone except God. Realise the impermanence of the body and place your trust solely in God. Seek refuge in Him. What is most needed today in this Kali age is faith. As often as possible, when you get the chance, meditate on God. Earn the esteem of society through sincere service. That will ensure a good future for you. (Divine Discourse, Aug 16, 1996)

Por encima de todo, lo mejor es que el Sadhaka sea gozoso, sonriente y entusiasta en todo momento. Aún más que Bhakthi y Jnana (Devoción y Sabiduría) lo deseable es esta actitud pura. Los que la han conseguido merecen alcanzar el objetivo primero. Esta cualidad de gozo en todo momento es el fruto del bien hecho en reencarnaciones pasadas. Cuando una persona está siempre preocupada, deprimida y con dudas, nunca puede alcanzar la dicha, no importa qué prácticas espirituales, o Sadhana, pueda llevar a cabo. La primera tarea de un aspirante espiritual es el cultivo del entusiasmo. Por medio de ese entusiasmo, puede obtener cualquier tipo de Ananda. Nunca se vanaglorien cuando los elogien; nunca se desalienten cuando los culpen. Sean leones espirituales, en cualquiera de esas dos situaciones. Deben analizar y corregir por si mismos sus propios errores; esto es sumamente importante. (Prema Vahini, Cap. 63)

Above all, it is best that the Sadhaka under all circumstances should be joyful, smiling and enthusiastic. Even more than Bhakthi and Jnana (Devotion and Wisdom), this pure attitude is desirable. Those who have acquired it deserve to reach the goal first. This quality of joy at all times is the fruit of the good done in past births. When a person is ever worried, depressed and doubting, he can never attain bliss, whatever spiritual practices or Sadhana one may undertake. The first task of a spiritual aspirant is the cultivation of enthusiasm. Through that enthusiasm, he can derive any variety of Ananda. Never get inflated when you are praised; never get deflated when you are blamed. Be a spiritual lion, regardless of both. One must analyse and correct one’s faults on his own; this is most important. (Prema Vahini, Ch 63)

En este vasto mundo, cada ser viviente desea una felicidad que sea eterna. ¿De dónde podemos obtener esta felicidad? La belleza es felicidad y la felicidad es la dulce esencia de la vida. ¿Qué objetos son bellos en este mundo? Una cierta cantidad de cosas atrae a la gente de diversos modos. Se piensa que es la belleza de los objetos la que atrae. Pero la belleza es efímera, ya sea que se encuentre en los seres humanos, los pájaros o las cosas. Por ejemplo: ésta es una rosa ¡Se ve tan hermosa! Su belleza da felicidad, pero ¿cuánto durará su belleza? Puede durar hasta hoy o mañana. De ahí en más sus pétalos van a caer y perderá su brillo. Cuando pierda su belleza, ya no les dará felicidad. Así es como en este mundo, no podrán encontrar belleza permanente, ni felicidad permanente. Solo Dios es permanente en este mundo;
el resto es transitorio como las nubes que pasan. La felicidad eterna se puede obtener sólo de Dios. (Discurso Divino, 22 de julio de 1996)

 

In this vast world, every living being desires happiness that is eternal. Where can we attain this happiness from? Beauty is happiness, and happiness is the nectarous essence of life. Which objects are beautiful in this world? A number of objects attract people in various ways. You think it is the beauty of the objects that attracts. But beauty is temporary, whether it is in human beings, birds, animals, or things. For example, this is a rose. It looks so beautiful. Its beauty gives happiness. But how long will its beauty last? It may be there till today or tomorrow. Thereafter all its petals will fall down and it will lose its shine. When it loses its beauty, it will no longer give you happiness. Thus in this world, you cannot find permanent beauty and permanent happiness. Only God is permanent in this world; the rest is temporary like passing clouds. Everlasting happiness can be attained only from God. (Divine Discourse, 22 July 1996)

La difusión o propagación es la idea fundamental de la educación. El primer paso para esta difusión es el hogar, donde deben venerar y complacer a sus padres, que les dieron esta oportunidad de vivir y aprender. Si los maltratan o les producen sufrimiento mental, ¿cómo pueden alegrar a otros a través del servicio y la comprensión? Se sabe que cuando un globo se infla, finalmente explota y el aire que contenía se mezcla con el vasto e ilimitado espacio exterior. Así también el amor de ustedes debe llenar su hogar y su sociedad, y finalmente romper esos límites y expandirse a todo el mundo. Una gota de agua contenida en la palma de la mano se evapora pronto; está muy sola. Pero tírenla al mar – ¡sobrevive! ¡Asume el nombre, la majestad y el poder del mar! ¡Cultiven las semillas del amor en todos los corazones! (Discurso Divino, 25 de
julio de 1975)

 

Expansion is the keynote of education. The first step for this expansion is the home, where you must revere and please your parents who gave you this chance to live and learn. If you ill-treat them or inflict grief on their minds, how can you ever gladden others by service and understanding? You know that when a balloon is blown, it bursts and the air inside it merges with the vast limitless expanse outside. So too your love must fill your home and your society, and finally burst even those bonds and become worldwide. A drop of water held in the palm evaporates soon; it is very solitary. But drop it into the sea – it survives! It assumes the name, the majesty and the might of a sea! Cultivate the seeds of love in all hearts!
