Casi nadie está libre del vicio de los celos. Los celos pueden surgir incluso en torno a asuntos muy triviales; y de los celos, surge el odio. Para deshacerse del odio hay que practicar constantemente el amor. Donde hay amor, no habrá lugar para los celos ni el odio y donde no hay celos ni odio, hay Ananda (bienaventuranza). Esta alegría verdadera se revela en la Belleza. Bien se ha dicho: “Algo bello es alegría para siempre”. Si ven belleza en alguna cosa, obtendrán alegría de ello. Pero, ¿qué es esta belleza?, ¿es el mundo hermoso?, ¿son hermosos los materiales y los objetos? Sin embargo, estos son temporales, por lo tanto, su belleza solo puede ser temporal. Solo Dios es permanente, por lo que solo Dios puede decirse que es bello. El deber primordial del devoto es buscar el néctar de la bienaventuranza que se obtiene de la contemplación de la belleza de
Dios. El medio para experimentar tal dicha es cultivar buenas cualidades y deshacerse de las características perjudiciales. Discurso Divino del 6 de septiembre de 1984.

 

There is hardly anyone who is free from the vice of jealousy. Jealousy may arise even over very trivial matters and out of jealousy, hatred arises. To get rid of hatred one must constantly practise love. Where there is love, there will be no room for jealousy and hatred and where there is no jealousy and hatred, there is Ananda (real joy). This joy reveals itself in Beauty. «A thing of beauty is a joy for ever.» If you see beauty in any thing, you will derive joy from it. But what is this beauty? Is the world beautiful? Are materials and objects beautiful? But these are temporary and their beauty too can only be temporary. Only God is permanent, so God alone can be said to be beautiful.The devotee’s primary duty is to seek the nectar of bliss that is to be got from the contemplation of the beauty of God. Si tenemos un forúnculo en el cuerpo, le aplicamos un poco de ungüento y lo cubrimos con un vendaje hasta que esté completamente curado. Si no aplican el ungüento y atan el vendaje a su alrededor, es posible que se infecte y cause un gran daño más adelante. De vez en cuando, tendremos que limpiarlo con agua pura, volver a aplicar el ungüento y colocarle un vendaje nuevo. De la misma manera, también en nuestra vida hay un forúnculo que ha estallado en nuestro cuerpo en la forma de este sentimiento: “yo”, “yo”, “yo”. Si realmente quieren curar este forúnculo del “yo”, deben lavarlo todos los días con las aguas del amor, aplicarle el ungüento de la fe y amarrar el vendaje de la humildad a su alrededor. If there is a boil on the body, we apply some ointment on it and cover it with a bandage until it completely heals. If you do not apply the ointment and tie the bandage around this boil, it is likely to become septic and cause great harm later on. Now and then we will have to clean it with pure water, apply the ointment again, and put on a new bandage. In the same way, in our life too there is this boil which has erupted in our body in the form of this feeling, ‘I, I, I’. If you want to really cure this boil of this ‘I’, you must wash it every day with the waters of love, apply the ointment of faith on it and tie the bandage of humility around it. Los Celos se manifiestan de muchas formas, incluso en la forma de encontrar las faltas hasta en la Divinidad. La gente está celosa si alguien se ha ganado un mejor nombre. Otros están celosos de aquellos que son más atractivos. Los estudiantes envidian a aquellos que sacan notas más altas en los exámenes. Una persona celosa no puede soportar ver a otra persona que está en mejor posición, es más bella o más próspera. Este es un signo de debilidad humana. Una vez que los celos se enraízan en la mente, a lo largo del tiempo, destruirá todos sus otros logros. Promueve cualidades demoníacas, deshumaniza al individuo y lo reduce a uno a la condición de un animal. Es por causa de su tendencia ofensivamente maligna que los celos deberían ser arrancados de raíz desde un comienzo. Deben aprender a disfrutar de la prosperidad y felicidad del otro.

Jealousy manifests itself in many forms, including the form of finding fault even in the Divine. People are jealous if someone earned a better name than themselves. Some are jealous of those who are more good looking than themselves. Students envy others who secure more marks in the examination. A jealous person cannot bear to see the other person who is better placed, more beautiful or more prosperous. This is a sign of human weakness. Once jealousy takes root in your mind, in due course, it will destroy all your other achievements. It promotes demonic qualities, dehumanises an individual and reduces one to the condition of an animal. Because of its egregious evil tendency, jealousy should be rooted out from the very beginning. You must learn to enjoy another’s prosperity and happiness. This is a great virtue. (Divine Discourse, Sep 6, 1984)

En Sankranti, es una costumbre el ofrecer una mezcla de azúcar de caña y semillas de sésamo (til) a todos. El azúcar es dulce y es símbolo del amor. Til es también conocido como sneha, que significa amistad. En consecuencia, el ofrecer la mezcla de azúcar-til, significa ofrendar ‘amor recargado con amistad’ a la gente. El mensaje de Sankranti es la promoción del amor entre los de nuestra sangre y amigos a través de la reunión de todos para celebrar este festival. Desarrollen armonía hacia todos. Mucho de lo que pasa en las amistades hoy consiste en la asociación con personas cuando son acaudalados y pueden beneficiarse de su riqueza. Cuando ellos caen en desgracia, las mismas personas ni siquiera querrán mirarlos. Esto no es amistad. La verdadera amistad tiene que emanar del corazón y debería estar inafectada por el bienestar o el infortunio. De

On Sankranti, it is a custom to offer a mixture of jaggery and sesame seeds (til) to all. Jaggery is sweet and is a symbol of love. Til is also known as sneha, which means friendship. Therefore, the offer of the jaggery-til mixture means offering ‘love surcharged with friendliness’ to people. The message of Sankranti is the promotion of love among one’s kith and kin and friends by all of them coming together to celebrate this festival. Develop harmony towards everyone. Much of what passes for friendship today consists in associating with persons when they are affluent and benefiting from their wealth. When they are in distress, the same persons will not even look at them. This is not true friendship. True friendship must emanate from the heart and should remain unaffected by weal or woe. In fact, God alone can be an unfailing friend in all situations. He is with you, above you, below you, beside you and around you. (Divine Discourse,
