Es posible que hayan presenciado los festivales de carrozas (Rathotsavam) en los centros de peregrinaje. Las carrozas de los templos enormes están decoradas generosamente con banderines y festones, hileras de hombres fieles las cargan por las calles acompañadas de la música de gaitas y conchas, precedidos por grupos de bailarines y cantantes que suman júbilo a la ocasión. Miles se arremolinan alrededor de la carroza sagrada. La atención es llevada naturalmente hacia el entretenimiento, pero la gente se siente más feliz, solo cuando juntan sus manos y se inclinan ante el ídolo de la carroza. Todo lo demás es subsidiario, incluso irrelevante. Así también en el proceso de la vida, el cuerpo es la carroza, y el Alma es el ídolo instalado en ella. Ganar y gastar, reír y llorar, lastimarse y sanarse, y la variedad de acrobacias en la vida cotidiana son

You may have witnessed chariot festivals (Rathotsavam) in pilgrimage centers. Huge temple chariots are gorgeously decorated with flags and festoons, stalwart bands of men draw them along the roads to the music of blowpipes and conches, and dancing groups and chanters precede it, adding to the exhilaration of the occasion. Thousands crowd around the holy chariot. Their attention is naturally drawn towards the entertainment, but they feel happiest only when they fold their palms and bow before the Idol in the chariot. The rest is all subsidiary, even irrelevant. So too in the process of life, body is the chariot, and the Atma is the Idol installed therein. Earning and spending, laughing and weeping, hurting and healing, and the various acrobatics in daily living are but subsidiary to the adoration of God and the union with the Lord. La cultura yace en ver la unidad en la diversidad, con la fe arraigada en la unidad de la vida. Alimenten su fe en la casta de la humanidad y la cultura del amor. Aquí, el amor no se refiere a el afecto corporal que marca la relación entre esposa y marido, entre hijos y padres, o entre amigos. El hijo, a pesar de que amaba a su madre de todo corazón, arroja su cuerpo a la pira ardiente y la envía a las llamas sin misericordia luego de su muerte. ¿Cómo puede un amor así ser llamado verdadero amor? ¡Tal tipo de relación puede , en el mejor de los casos, ser denominada ‘apego’! Los apegos, como nubes pasajeras que se alejan, se aproximan y transcurren por el medio. Pero el Amor existía incluso antes del nacimiento y durará después de la muerte. No hay amor entre esposo y esposa antes el casamiento o entre la madre y el niño antes de que haya nacido. Solo el Amor

Culture lies in seeing unity in diversity, with a deep-seated faith in the unity of life. Nourish your faith in the caste of humanity and the culture of love. Here love does not refer to the bodily affection that marks the relationship between a wife and husband, between children and parents, or between friends. The son, though he loved his mother with all his heart, flings her body onto the burning pyre and consigns her to flames without any mercy after her death. How can such love be called true Love? All such relationships can at best be termed ‘attachment’! Attachments, like passing clouds that sail away, come in the middle and pass off in the middle. But Love existed even before birth and will last after death. There is no love between husband and wife before their wedding or between the mother and the child before the child was born. En Ugadi ( El día de Año Nuevo), la gente se levanta temprano, toma un baño sagrado y se pone ropas nuevas. Se interesan solo en la limpieza externa y no se preocupan por la purificación de sus corazones, los que están manchados con pensamientos y sentimientos malvados. Es ms fácil mantener la higiene externa y estrenar ropa nueva, pero ese no es el propósito de celebrar los festivales. La verdadera celebración del año nuevo yace en renunciar a las malas cualidades y purificar el propio corazón. El corazón humano en su estado prístino es altamente sagrado y el nacimiento humano es difícil de obtener. Habiendo logrado una vida tan preciada, la gente no hace ningún esfuerzo para vivir como un verdadero ser humano. Hoy la gente se ha vuelto un atado de deseos. Todo el tiempo y el esfuerzo es gastado en satisfacer deseos. Uno debería darse cuenta que
solo la aniquilación de los deseos lo conducirá a la bienaventuranza última. La verdadera felicidad yace en el estado de no deseo. Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Divino Discurso del 13 de abril de 2002.

 

On Ugadi (New Year’s day), people get up early, have a sacred bath and put on new clothes. They are interested only in external cleanliness and are not concerned about purifying their hearts which are tainted with evil thoughts and feelings. It is rather easy to have external cleanliness and to wear new clothes but that is not the purpose of celebrating festivals. True celebration of new year lies in giving up evil qualities and purifying one’s heart. Human heart in its pristine state is highly sacred and human birth is difficult to attain. Having attained such a precious life, people are not making any effort to live like a true human being. Today people have become a bundle of desires. All time and effort is spent in fulfilling desires. One should realise that only annihilation of desires will lead to ultimate bliss. True happiness lies in the state of desirelessness. Los sentimientos que experimentamos en los sueños desaparecen cuando nos despertamos. Las cosas que vemos cuando estamos despiertos, también se viven brevemente.
Durante el sueño, no somos conscientes del mundo. A pesar de que el cuerpo está en el dormitorio, cuando soñamos es directo y dramático como por ejemplo, podemos vernos a nosotros mismos ¡comprando en un centro comercial en la calle Mount en Chennai! Entonces, los estados de despierto, dormido o soñando son relativa y engañosamente reales, solamente. Digamos que van caminando hacia la residencia al amanecer cantando bhajans. Un muchacho de la fila delantera, grita asustado,
«Serpiente, Serpiente!» ,ese miedo los abarcará a todos. Hará que todos den un paso atrás. Pero ¿era realmente una serpiente? Digamos que alguien la mira con una linterna encendida y ¡descubre que es una soga!
La ignorancia (el pensamiento que era una serpiente y el miedo) fueron los causantes. El conocimiento lo removió. Similarmente cuando la ‘linterna’ ilumina el mundo, será revelada como Dios. Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Divino Discurso del 08 de enero de 1983.

 

The feelings we experience in dreams disappear when we wake up. The things we see when awake are also short lived. During sleep, we are not aware of the world at all. Though the body is in the bedroom, when we dream, it is direct and dramatic, like for example we may see ourselves shopping on the Mount Road in Chennai! So, the waking, dreaming and sleeping stages are all only relatively and deceivingly real. Let us say, you are coming towards the hostel at dusk singing bhajans. A boy in the front row suddenly shouts in fear, «Snake Snake», that fear will overtake you all. It will make all of you step back. But, was it really a snake? Say a boy then looks at it with a lit torch and finds out that it was only a rope! Ignorance (the thought it was a snake and the fear) caused it, knowledge removed it. Similarly when the ‘torch’ lights up the world, it will be revealed to be God. [Divine Discourse, Jan 08, 1983]
