No hay obligación de tener un altar exterior (para el Yajna), como aquí. Ustedes solo deben estar atentos a la pureza de las palabras que pronuncian y oyen, y a las acciones que emprenden. En realidad, su corazón es el altar ceremonial; su cuerpo, el fogón; su cabello, el pasto sagrado (darbha); sus deseos, los leños que alimentan el fuego; sus anhelos, el ghee que se vierte sobre el fuego para que broten las llamas; la ira es el animal que se sacrifica, y el fuego son las austeridades (tapas) que se cumplen. A veces, la gente interpreta que tapas son prácticas ascéticas, como estar de pie sobre una pierna o ponerse cabeza abajo. No; tapas no significa contorsiones físicas. Es la completa y correcta coordinación de pensamiento, palabra y acción. Cuando se logra esto, el esplendor del fuego se pone de manifiesto. (Divino Discurso, 2 de octubre de 1981)

 

There is no compulsion that you should have an external altar (for the Yajna) as here. Only, you should be vigilant about the purity of the words you utter or listen to and the deeds you engage in. Really speaking, your heart is the ceremonial altar; your body, the fireplace; your hair, the holy grass (darbha); your wishes, the fuel-sticks that feed the fire; desire, the ghee that is poured into the fire to make it burst into flame; anger is the sacrificial animal; and the fire is the tapas (penance) we accomplish. People sometimes interpret tapas as ascetic practices like standing on one leg or on the head. No, tapas is not physical contortion. It is the complete and correct coordination of thought, word and deed. When this is achieved, the splendour of fire will manifest. (Divine Discourse, Oct 02, 1981)

El festival de Navaratri se celebra para proclamar al mundo el poder de las diosas. La suprema Shakti (Energía) se manifiesta bajo las formas de Durga, Lakshmi y Saraswati. Durga nos otorga energía: física, mental y espiritual. Laskhmi nos dona riquezas de muchos tipos, no solo dinero: la riqueza del carácter, y muchas otras. Incluso la salud es riqueza. Saraswati nos provee de inteligencia, capacidad para la indagación intelectual y poder de discernimiento. Nuestra propia madre es la combinación de todos estos seres divinos. Ella nos proporciona energía, riqueza e inteligencia. Desea continuamente nuestro progreso en la vida. Por eso representa a las tres diosas a quienes adoramos durante el festival de Navaratri. La vida de una persona que no puede respetar ni amar a su madre, es deplorable. Reconociendo a la propia madre como encarnación de todas las fuerzas divinas, debemos demostrarle

The Navaratri festival is celebrated to proclaim to the world the power of the goddesses. The supreme Shakti (Energy) manifests Herself in the form of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati. Durga grants us energy – physical, mental and spiritual. Lakshmi bestows on us wealth of many kinds; not just money, the wealth of character and many more. Even health is wealth. Saraswati bestows on us intelligence, the capacity for intellectual enquiry and the power of discrimination. One’s own mother is a combination of all these Divine Beings. She provides us energy, wealth and intelligence. She constantly desires our advancement in life. So she represents all the three goddesses we worship during the Navaratri festival. The life of a person who cannot respect and love their mother, is despicable. Recognising one’s mother as the very embodiment of all divine forces, one must show reverence to her and treat her with love. This is an important message that the Navaratri,

Navaratri se celebra en honor a la victoria que Parashakti (la Diosa del Divino Poder) logró sobre las fuerzas del mal, como se describe en el Devi Mahatmyam y el Devi Bhagavatam. Cuando esa Divina Energía Primordial se manifiesta en su aspecto sátvico (puro y suave), se la describe como la gran maestra e inspiradora, Maha-Saraswati. Cuando es rajásica (activa y potente) es la gran proveedora y sustentadora, Maha-Lakshmi. Cuando es tamásica (obtusa e inactiva) pero latente en su poder de destruir y engañar, es Maha-Kali. Mediante un sadhana sistemático es posible para ustedes aprovechar los recursos interiores con que Dios los ha dotado, y elevarse a la esfera, más pura y más feliz, de la Realidad. Esa Parashakti está presente en cada persona como Kundalini Shakti (la energía espiritual durmiente), la cual, cuando despierta, es capaz de destruir las malas tendencias de la
mente. Por consiguiente, dediquen esta Navaratri a propiciar a la omnisciente Diosa Madre, y vivan en paz y alegría. (Divino Discurso, 4 de octubre de 1967)

 

Navaratri is celebrated in honour of the victory that Parashakti (the Goddess of Divine Power) achieved over the evil forces, as described in the Devi Mahatmyam and Devi Bhagavatam. That Primordial Divine Energy, when it is manifested in its Satwik (pure and gentle) aspect is delineated as the great teacher and inspirer, Maha-Saraswati; when it is Rajasik (active and potent), it is the great provider and sustainer, Maha Lakshmi; when it is Tamasik (dull and inactive) but latent as the great dark destroyer and deluder, She is Maha-kali. By means of systematic Sadhana it is possible to tap the inner resources that God has endowed you with and elevate yourselves to the purer and happier realm of the Reality. That Parashakti is in every one as the Kundalini Shakti (dormant spiritual energy), which is capable of destroying the evil tendencies inside the mind when awakened. So dedicate this Navaratri to propitiate the omniscient Mother Goddess, and live in

Balvikas es la base primordial del gran movimiento para restaurar la rectitud (dharma) en el mundo. El ideal de Balvikas es lograr una generación de chicos y chicas que tengan una conciencia limpia y clara. Los niños deben ser guiados a tener buenos estilos de vida, a la simplicidad, la humildad y la disciplina. Como ustedes saben, no se puede atraer a los niños sosteniendo una vara en la mano; hay que tener, en cambio, algunos dulces. De modo que los gurúes tienen que ser personificaciones del amor y la paciencia. El programa propiamente dicho no es tan importante como la creación de una atmósfera en la cual los hábitos e ideales nobles puedan crecer y fructificar. Los alumnos siguen la disciplina y el programa de Balvikas solo un día a la semana, y los demás días asisten a sus escuelas habituales. Por lo tanto, el impacto del gurú tiene que ser extra fuerte para poder
actuar como un catalizador en el proceso de mejorar los patrones de conducta de estos niños. (Divino Discurso, 25 de diciembre de 1970)

 

Balvikas is the primary basis of the great movement to restore righteousness (dharma) in the world. The ideal of the Balvikas is to raise a generation of boys and girls who have a clean and clear conscience. Children must be led into good ways of living, into simplicity, humility and discipline. As you know, you cannot draw children to your side if you hold a stick in your hand; you will have to hold some sweets instead. So the gurus have to be embodiments of love and patience. The actual syllabus is not so important as the creation of an atmosphere where noble habits and ideals can grow and fructify. The pupils follow Balvikas discipline and curriculum only for one day in the week and attend their usual schools on the other days. So the impact of the guru has got to be extra strong if it has to act as a catalyst in the process of modification of the behaviour patterns of these children.
