Ganar dinero no puede ser el único propósito de la educación. El único propósito de la educación puede ser adquirir buenas cualidades. Desde el nacimiento hasta que el cuerpo perece, ustedes hacen muchos intentos de ganar dinero y adquirir alimentos. En este proceso de acumular riqueza, adoptan varios métodos que también son adoptados por las aves y los animales. Para adquirir alimentos, ustedes utilizan diversas clases de fuerza, capacidades y habilidades. ¡Las aves y animales usan la misma clase de habilidades! No es correcto que utilicen todo su conocimiento y habilidad para hacer sólo aquello que también hacen los animales y las aves. En el proceso de gastar todas sus energías en adquirir alimentos, ustedes se están alejando del aspecto del Divino Principio (Atma), que es el propósito mismo de este nacimiento especial. Earning money cannot be the sole purpose of education. Acquiring good qualities can be the only purpose of education. From our birth till the body perishes, we are making many attempts to earn money and acquire food. In this process of amassing wealth, we are adopting several methods which are adopted by the birds and animals. To acquire food, different kinds of strength, abilities, and skills are used by us; just as the very same skills are used by animals and birds! It is not right that we use all our knowledge and skill for doing just what the animals and birds also do. In the process of spending all our energies in acquiring food, we are going far away from the aspect of the Divine principle (Atma) which is the very purpose of this special birth. Lakshmana y Shatrughna, los hijos mellizos de la Madre Sumithra, llegaron al mundo llorando. Sumithra intentó diversas estrategias, pero no logró calmar su llanto inconsolable. Entonces, el Sabio Vasishta sugirió mantener a Lakshmana en la cuna junto a Rama, y a Shatrughna en la cuna junto a Bharatha. Sumithra hizo lo indicado y halló que, inmediatamente, ambos dejaron de llorar, comenzaron a beber leche y a jugar en la cuna. El Sabio lo explicó así: «Oh, noble madre, una rama es parte del árbol. Los humanos son parte de Dios, y no pueden vivir sin Él. Lakshmana no descansó hasta que estuvo junto a Rama, y Shatrughna no podía soportar estar separado de Bharatha. El individuo no puede vivir aparte del Ser Absoluto, que es su fuente. Un pez no puede existir lejos del agua, aunque se lo ponga en una pecera de oro tachonada de piedras preciosas. De la misma manera, el ser
individual está inquieto hasta que alcanza al Ser Absoluto, que es su fuente».

 

Mother Sumithra’s twin children, Lakshmana and Shatrughna, arrived in the world crying. Sumithra tried various strategies but failed to soothe their inconsolable grief. Sage Vasishta then suggested keeping Lakshmana in the cradle with Rama, and Shatrughna in the cradle with Bharatha. Sumithra did accordingly and found that both stopped crying immediately, started drinking milk and playing in the cradle. The Sage explained thus, “Oh noble mother, a branch is a part of the tree. Humans are part of Divinity and cannot live without Him. Lakshmana did not rest until he was united with Rama and Shatrughna could not bear separation from Bharatha. The Individual cannot live apart from the Absolute Self, which is its source. A fish cannot exist away from water, even if it is placed in a golden bowl studded with precious stones. Similarly, the individual self is restless until it reaches the Absolute Self, which is its source.”
