Dios es uno solo, pero cada persona puede y debe crear una forma para sí, de acuerdo a su gusto. Cuando la sal está en el mar, no es distinta del mar; es parte del mismo. Este sabor salado es una cualidad presente en el océano entero. ¿Tenemos acaso que beber y saborear el océano entero para experimentar esta salobridad? Una gota de agua es suficiente para decirnos que el agua de mar es salada. De la misma manera, con que ustedes experimenten una pequeña parte del aspecto de la Divinidad (Brahman) presente dentro de su corazón, podrán comprender lo divino. En un hogar hay muchos tubos de luz, y pensamos que son diferentes. Ciertamente, la luz que proviene de cada tubo es diferente, pero la corriente que fluye a través de todos los tubos es la misma. Todos los seres humanos en este mundo son como tubos de luz, y Dios, en la forma de Shaktipata (energía espiritual), brilla en todos

God is one, but each individual can and must create a form for themselves according to their taste. When salt is in the sea, it is not distinct from the sea. It is a part of the ocean. This salty taste is a quality present in the entire ocean. Do we have to drink and taste the entire ocean to experience this saltiness? One drop of water suffices to tell us that the ocean water is salty. Similarly even if you experience a small part of the aspect of Divine (Brahman) present within your heart, you can understand the divine. There are many tube lights in a home, and we think they are different. Indeed the light coming from each tube light is different, but the current that flows through all the tube lights is the same. All human beings in this world are like tube lights, and God, in the form of Shaktipata (spiritual energy), shines in all human tube lights. (Summer Showers in Brindavan 1974, Vol 1, Ch 5)

También los cinco elementos que constituyen la Tierra están controlados por ciertas leyes. Incluso el infinito océano se mueve bajo ciertas leyes y reglamentos. Para obtener esta limitación en el plano mundano, se requiere alguna disciplina. En el contexto del mundo entero, la vida del hombre es sólo una parte. Por lo tanto, la vida del hombre tiene que ser regulada. Ya sea por amor, por odio o por ira, es necesario que haya alguna regulación. Para hacer cualquier clase de trabajo en este mundo, tiene que haber algún orden y disciplina. Cualquier trabajo que ustedes puedan hacer sin disciplina, no rendirá buenos resultados. Lo que rige al mundo es la regla de la ley. Lo que se requiere para controlarse a uno mismo y ponerse bajo la regla de la ley, es disciplina. Este control de uno mismo es como tapas, o austeridades. Una vida en la que no haya disciplina ni control fracasará, y tarde o
temprano caerá. Se debe reconocer la verdad de que tiene que haber controles y límites para la naturaleza humana. («Rosas de verano en las Montañas Azules – 1976», Capítulo 6)

 

The five elements that constitute the earth are also controlled by certain laws. Even the infinite ocean moves under certain laws and regulations. In order to get this limitation in the worldly plane, some discipline is necessary. In the context of the whole world, man’s life is only a part. Therefore man’s life has to be regulated. Whether it is for love, for hatred, or for anger, some regulation is necessary. For doing any kind of work in this world, there should be some order and discipline. Any work that you may do without discipline, will not yield good results. That which rules the world is the rule of law. What is required to control oneself and put oneself under the rule of law, is discipline. This control of oneself is like tapas or penance. A life, in which there is no discipline and control, will fail and fall one day or the other. One must recognise the truth that there should be controls on, and limits to, human nature. Cuando usamos las palabras ‘libertad de elección’ con respecto al camino espiritual, utilizamos estas palabras sólo en relación con nuestra comprensión de lo Divino. Dios no tiene límites; y uno puede tener la libertad de tener su propia imagen de Dios, y aún así disfrutar del aspecto ilimitado de Dios. La tela puede ser diferente pero el material base, es decir el hilo que hace a la tela de diferentes tipos, es el mismo. Los ornamentos son todos diferentes, pero el oro con que se fabrican los ornamentos es el mismo. El color del ganado puede variar, pero la leche es la misma. Las flores pueden ser de diferentes tipos, pero el culto para el que se utilizan es uno y el mismo. Los seres humanos han pasado por alto este punto esencial y este es el resultado de su ignorancia. La gente se ha sometido a muchas dificultades a causa de esa ignorancia. Dios es uno, pero cada individuo debe poder crear una forma

When we use the words ‘freedom of choice’ with respect to the spiritual path, we use these words only with regard to our understanding of the Divine. God is limitless; and one can have the freedom to have one’s own image of God, and yet enjoy the limitless aspect of God. The cloth may be different but the basic material, namely the thread which makes the cloth of different kinds, is the same. Ornaments are all different, but the gold which goes into making the ornaments is the same. The colour of the cattle may vary, but the milk is the same. The flowers may be of different types, but the worship for which they are used is one and the same. Human beings have missed this essential point and this is a result of their ignorance. People have submitted themselves to great many difficulties because of such ignorance. God is one, but each individual should be able to create a form for oneself according to one’s taste.
