Los alimentos que comemos determinan el olor del eructo que sigue. El sabor del pan que preparamos depende del tipo de harina que utilizamos. Si siembran semillas en una tierra infértil, no germinarán ni producirán una rica cosecha. Así también, en una persona que tiene cualidades torpes o malignas (rajásicas) en su corazón, no pueden florecer las cualidades virtuosas y piadosas como la adoración al Señor o la compasión. Por tanto, es necesario que una persona pueda hacer el tipo de cosas a través de las cuales el campo de su corazón se pueda purificar y limpiar. Así que tomen valor y avancen por el camino noble en el viaje de la vida. El tipo de trabajo que realicemos determinará el tipo de frutos que obtengamos. De ahí que el Señor Krishna haya enseñado en el Gita que la pureza del trabajo (karma) es extremadamente importante.
Recuerden que Dios nunca enseña o hace algo que no tenga un profundo significado espiritual para nuestro bienestar. (Rosas del verano en montañas azules, 1976, Capítulo 10)

 

The food we eat determines the smell of the belch that follows. The taste of bread that we prepare depends on the kind of flour we use. If you sow seeds in an infertile land, they will not sprout and yield a rich harvest. So also in a person who has dull or evil (rajasic) qualities in their heart, virtuous and pious qualities like worshipping the Lord or compassion cannot flourish. It is therefore necessary for a person to do such things through which the field of their heart can be purified and cleansed. Therefore take courage and move forward on the noble path in the journey of life. The kind of work we engage in will determine the kind of fruits that we get. Hence Lord Krishna has taught in the Gita that the purity of work (karma) is extremely important. Remember God never teaches or does something which does not have deeper spiritual meaning for our well-being. (Summer Roses on Blue Mountains 1976, Ch 10)

No es suficiente con que ustedes se declaren devotos del Señor. El Señor debe reconocerlos a ustedes como Sus devotos. Sólo entonces adquiere valor su devoción. El Bhagavatam y otras Escrituras demuestran cómo este tipo de vida dedicada puede ser vivida por cualquier persona que desee ser devota del Señor. Nadie debe sentir que entregarse completamente al Señor esté por encima de su capacidad. Si hay una determinación firme, esto puede ser logrado. La sabiduría divina sólo puede alcanzarse a través del esfuerzo denodado (Shraddavan Labhate Jnanam). Hoy el mundo padece de una epidemia de egoísmo (Ahamkara). No hay base alguna para este tipo de engreimiento; sólo nace de la ignorancia. Tiene que ser totalmente erradicado. Si cada uno se da cuenta de que el cuerpo le ha sido dado para buscar la rectitud, y basa en esto sus acciones, sin duda tomará
conciencia de la Divinidad. (Divino Discurso, 21 de febrero de 1992)

 

It is not enough if you claim to be a devotee of the Lord. The Lord must recognise you as a devotee. Only then does one’s devotion acquire value. Bhagavatam and other scriptures demonstrate how this kind of dedicated life can be led by any person who wishes to be devoted to the Lord. No one should feel that it is beyond his or her capacity to surrender themselves completely to the Lord. If there is firm determination, this can be accomplished. It is only through earnest endeavour that Divine wisdom can be got (Shraddhavan Labhate Jnanam). Today the world is afflicted with the epidemic of egoism (Ahamkara). There is really no basis for this kind of self-conceit. It is born of ignorance. It has to be totally eradicated. If everyone realises that the body has been given for the pursuit of righteousness and acts on that basis, they will most certainly realise the Divine. (Divine Discourse, Feb 21, 1992)

Una vez, Krishna fingió que sufría de dolor de cabeza, para curar el cual debía aplicarse sobre Su cabeza el polvo de los pies de un devoto. El sabio Narada trató de recolectar polvo de los pies de Sathyabhama, de Rukmini, y de otros a quienes consideraba grandes devotos del Señor; pero todos declinaron dar el polvo de sus pies, pues consideraban un pecado ofrecer su polvo para que fuera colocado sobre la cabeza del Señor. Finalmente Narada acudió a las Gopikas, quienes no tuvieron la menor vacilación en ofrecer el polvo de sus pies, si era para dar inmediato alivio al Señor, sin que les importaran las consecuencias para ellas mismas. Las Gopikas no consideraron si era correcto o incorrecto que ofrecieran el polvo de sus pies. Su única preocupación fue aliviar a su Señor, por cualquier medio. Ellas afirmaron: «Nuestra vida entera está dedicada a Krishna.
Su alegría es la nuestra». Este era el espíritu de unidad con el cual ofrecieron el polvo de sus pies. En ese mismo momento, Krishna quedó libre de su dolencia, y también el sabio Narada aprendió una lección. (Divino Discurso, 21 de agosto de 1992)

 

Once Krishna feigned that he was suffering from headache for which the cure was the application of the dust from the feet of a devotee on His head. Sage Narada sought to collect the dust from Satyabhama, Rukmini and others, whom he regarded as great devotees of the Lord. But all of them declined to give the dust from their feet because they considered it sinful to offer their dust to be placed on the Lord’s head. Ultimately Narada went to the Gopikas, who did not have the slightest hesitation to offer the dust from their feet, if only it would give immediate relief to the Lord, regardless of the consequences to themselves. The Gopikas did not consider whether it was right or wrong for them to offer the dust of their feet. Their only concern was relief to their Lord by any means. They declared, «Our entire life is dedicated to Krishna. His joy is ours.» This was the spirit of oneness with which they offered the dust of their feet. At that very moment
Krishna was rid of His ailment and Sage Naradha too learnt a lesson! (Divine Discourse, Aug 21, 1992)
