Ustedes deben ofrecer al Señor, no las flores que crecen en las plantas; será recompensada la planta, no ustedes. El Señor desea que le ofrezcan el loto florecido en el lago de su corazón y la fruta que madura en el árbol de su carrera terrenal, no el loto y la fruta disponibles en el mercado. Tal vez pregunten: «¿Dónde podemos hallar al Señor?». Bien, Él ha dado su dirección, en el capítulo 18, shloka 61, del Bhagavad Gita. Búsquenlo y tomen nota: «Ishwarah sarva bhutanam hriddese, Arjuna, thisthati». «Oh, Arjuna, el Señor reside en el corazón de todos los seres». Ahora, sabiendo esto, ¿cómo podrían menospreciar a cualquier ser viviente, cómo podrían deleitarse en odiarlo, o permitirse el pasatiempo de ridiculizarlo? Cada persona está cargada de la Divina Presencia y es movida por atributos divinos. Amor, honor y
amistad: esto es lo que cada quien merece de ustedes. Denlo en abundancia. (Divino Discurso, 16 de abril de 1964)

 

You must offer the Lord, not flowers that plants grow; that will reward the plant, not you! The Lord wants you to offer the lotus that blooms in the Lake of your Heart, the fruit that ripens on the tree of your earthly career, not the lotus and the fruit available in the marketplace! You may ask – «Where can we find the Lord?» Well, He has given His address, in Chapter 18, Shloka 61 of Bhagavad Gita. Turn to it and note it down – Ishwarah sarva bhutanam hrid-dese, Arjuna, tisthati – “O Arjuna, the Lord resides in the heart of all beings.» Now, after knowing that, how can you look down on any living being in contempt or how can you revel in hating him or indulge in the pastime of ridiculing? Every individual is charged with the Divine Presence, moved by Divine attributes. Love, honour, friendliness – that is what each one deserves from you. Give these in full measure. Conocer al propio Uno Mismo es un trabajo duro. Tomen por caso el alimento que ingieren con su propia boca. Lo sienten en el estómago, pero después de eso no experimentan lo que le ocurre en cada etapa. Entonces, ¿cómo podrían, sin adquirir los medios especiales para eso, conocer la Verdad que reside tras las envolturas que los encierran, es decir Annamaya, Pranamaya, Manomaya, Vijnanamaya y Anandhamaya (las envolturas de materia, energía vital, mente, inteligencia y bienaventuranza)? Limpien su intelecto o poder intelectual (dhi shakti) de las telarañas del ego, el polvo del deseo y el hollín de la codicia y la envidia; entonces, se convierte en un instrumento adecuado para revelar la Swarupa, la Verdad Interior. «Conócete a ti mismo, conoce al motivador interior, el Antaryamin»; esta es la exhortación de las Escrituras de todos los credos. A menos que ustedes estén armados
con este conocimiento, son como un barco sin brújula, navegando en un mar tormentoso. (Divino Discurso, 16 de abril de 1964)

 

It is a hard job to know about your own Self. Take the case of the food that you eat with your own mouth. You feel it in your stomach but after that you do not experience what happens to it at each stage. How then can you know, without acquiring the special means for it, the Truth that lies behind the sheaths that encase and enclose you – the Annamaya, Pranamaya, Manomaya, Vijnanamaya and Aanandhamaya (sheaths of material, vital energy, mind, intelligence and bliss)? Clear your intellect or intellectual power (dhee shakti) of the cobwebs of the ego, the dust of desire, the soot of greed and envy, and it becomes a fit instrument for revealing the Swarupa – the Inner Truth. «Know yourself, know the Inner Motivator, the Antaryamin” – that is the exhortation of the scriptures of all faiths. For, unless you are armed with that knowledge, you are like a ship without a compass, sailing on a stormy sea. (Divine Discourse, Apr 16, 1964)

La tentación de ignorar el Dharma crece a partir del egoísmo y de la aceptación de falsos valores. El deseo de satisfacer ansias inferiores es la raíz del Adharma (la inmoralidad). Este deseo se apodera de ustedes arteramente, como un ladrón en la noche; o como un camarada que viene a salvarlos; o como un sirviente que viene a atenderlos; o como un consejero que viene a prevenirlos. ¡Oh, la maldad tiene mil trucos para capturar el corazón! Deben estar siempre alertas contra la tentación. El deseo abre una grieta en la conciencia, ingresa y se establecce allí; luego multiplica su cría y carcome la personalidad que ustedes han construido con laborioso cuidado. El fuerte ya no está bajo su control. Han sido reducidos a un títere, manipulado por estos enemigos interiores. Cada vez que tratan de reconstruirse, ellos socavan la estructura, y ustedes tienen que hacerlo todo de
nuevo. ¡Esta es la magnitud del daño que provocan! (Divino Discurso, 15 de abril de 1964)

 

The temptation to ignore Dharma grows from egoism and the acceptance of false values. The wish to satisfy lower desires is the root of Adharma (unrighteousness). This wish takes hold of you slyly, silently, like a thief in the night; or like a comrade come to save you; or like a servant come to attend on you; or, like a counsellor come to warn you. Oh, wickedness has a thousand tricks to capture your heart. You must be ever alert against the temptation. The wish makes a chink in your consciousness, enters and establishes itself and then multiplies its brood and eats into the personality you have built up with laborious care. The fort is no longer under your control. You have been reduced into a puppet manipulated by these inner enemies. Whenever you try to rebuild yourselves, they undermine the structure and you have to do it all over again. That is the extent of the harm they do! (Divine Discourse, Apr 15, 1964)
