Si nuestro amor, creencia y afecto están confinados a nuestros parientes y amigos más cercanos, esa será la más baja clase de amor egoísta. Por otro lado, si lo despliegan un poco más allá de la estrecha región de su familia y extienden su fe y creencia a sus compatriotas, entonces se convierte en intermedio. Si tratan al mundo entero como uno y consideran a todas las personas que viven en él como uno, y extienden su fe y comprensión a todas ellas, este es el tipo más alto de amor desinteresado. Gradualmente debemos pasar del limitado círculo de nuestra familia al círculo más amplio de nuestro país y luego expandirnos al Universo. Cuando hablamos de humanidad, no debe limitarse a un pequeño grupo de personas. Sólo hay una casta, que es la casta de la humanidad, y cuando hablamos de humanidad, debemos extender nuestro amor

If our love, belief and affection are confined to our nearest kith and kin, that will be the lowest kind of selfish love. On the other hand, if you stretch a little beyond the narrow region of your family and extend your faith and belief to your countrymen, then it becomes intermediate. If you treat the entire world as one and regard all the people living in it as one, and extend your faith and sympathy to all of them, then it is the highest kind of selfless love. Gradually we should move from the limited circle of our family to the wider circle of our country and then expand to the Universe. When we talk of humanity, it should not be confined to a small group of people. There is only one caste, and that is the caste of humanity, and when we talk of humanity, we must extend our selfless love to all species in the Universe too. Las personas viajan al cielo y se elevan hasta las alturas de los cielos vacíos. Se zambullen en las profundidades del océano; y de muchas otras maneras, están haciendo cosas increíbles. Con la ayuda de la ciencia y la tecnología, están descubriendo e inventando cosas que antes no eran accesibles a los seres humanos comunes. Están haciendo todo lo posible por aprender y entender varios fenómenos, pero sólo parcialmente están logrando este objetivo. De hecho, las personas están inventando computadoras y máquinas complejas y sofisticadas, y a través de éstas están tratando de conquistar el universo. Después de adquirir todas estas fortalezas y capacidades, si las personas no tienen la sabiduría de usarlas bien para su felicidad y vida pacífica, todas estas invenciones se vuelven inútiles. People travel into the sky and soar to the very heights of the empty skies. They dive into the depths of the ocean; and in many other ways, people are doing incredible things. With the help of science and technology, they are discovering and inventing things which were not previously accessible to common human beings. They are making every effort to learn and understand several phenomena but are only partially succeeding in this objective. In fact, people are inventing complicated and sophisticated computers and machines, and through these are trying to conquer the universe. After acquiring all these strengths and capacities, if people do not have the wisdom to use them well for their happiness and peaceful living, all these inventions become useless. La lucha de cada individuo contra sus enemigos internos es diferente. Cada persona obtiene el resultado según su Sadhana (prácticas espirituales), basado en el merecimiento de sus actos en este nacimiento y los anteriores. La vida no es una fórmula mecánica, donde 2 más 2 siempre es 4. Para algunos, 2 más 2 puede ser 3 o 5, dependiendo de su «valoración personal» de 2. En el camino espiritual, cada uno debe avanzar desde donde ya se encuentra, a su propio ritmo, a la luz de la lámpara que cada uno sostiene en la mano. Identifiquen los defectos que socavarían su carrera espiritual, y corríjanlos para avanzar en su camino hacia Él. La gente compra ropa de color oscuro, para que no revele polvo o suciedad; no prefieren la ropa blanca, porque muestra claramente su condición sucia. Pero, no traten de ocultar su suciedad en la oscuridad; tengan vergüenza de las
naturalezas sucias y traten de limpiarlas rápidamente. (Discurso Divino, 16 de marzo de 1966)

 

Every individual’s struggle against their inner foes is different. Each person gets the result according to their Sadhana (spiritual practices), based on the deservedness of their acts in this and their previous births. Life is not a mechanical formula, where 2 plus 2 always makes 4. To some, 2 plus 2 may be 3 or 5, depending on their ‘personal valuation’ of 2. In the spiritual path, each one must move forward from where they already are at their own pace, in the light of the lamp which each one is holding in the hand. Identify defects that would undermine your spiritual career, and fix them to advance in your journey unto Him. People buy clothes with deep colour, so that they may not reveal dust or dirt; they do not prefer white clothes, for they show plainly their soiled condition. But, do not try to hide your dirt in darkness; be ashamed of soiled natures and endeavour to cleanse them fast. (Divine Discourse, 16 Mar 1966)

Muchos son incapaces de comprender la santidad del amor desinteresado y la devoción de las Gopikas, y malinterpretan todas sus acciones atribuyéndoles significados erróneos. Las Gopikas tenían pensamientos nobles, su amor y devoción por el Señor Krishna era absolutamente desinteresado. Es por esta razón que incluso después de tantos siglos permanecen frescas en las mentes de millones en la India. El Bhagavata predica la santidad de la devoción al Señor Krishna. No hay odio, celos ni ira en el amor divino; es por eso que puede dar felicidad al mundo entero. Debemos aceptar el amor desinteresado como un tipo esencial de devoción y promoverlo en nuestro país. Debe ser un ideal en lo que concierne a nuestra relación con Dios. Descarten de sus corazones todo pensamiento impuro o egoísmo, desde este mismo momento, y cultiven el amor divino desinteresado, y

Many are unable to understand the sacredness of the selfless love and devotion of the Gopikas and misinterpret all their actions attributing them wrong meanings. Gopikas had noble thoughts; their love and devotion to Lord Krishna was absolutely selfless. It is for this reason that even after so many centuries they remain fresh in the minds of millions in India. The Bhagavata preaches the sacredness of devotion to Lord Krishna. There is no hatred, jealousy, or anger in divine love; that is why it can give happiness to the entire world. We should accept selfless love as an essential type of devotion and promote it in our country. It must be an ideal so far as our relationship with God is concerned. Discard any unsacred thoughts or selfishness from your hearts, from this very moment, and cultivate selfless divine love and purify your heart. (Summer Roses on Blue Mountains, 1976, Ch 14)
