Un hogar está lleno de amor, con el sacrificio que el amor implica, la alegría que el amor irradia y la paz que el amor imparte. La estructura de ladrillos y argamasa en que padres e hijos pasan la vida, es una casa, no un hogar; los hijos no la anhelan y tampoco los padres hallan paz en ella. En sus hogares, una disciplina que todos ustedes deben seguir es: ¡el control de los sentidos! Si les dan rienda suelta, los arrastrarán a la desgracia. La educación debe hacerlos a ustedes monarcas de sus talentos, que son sus herramientas para adquirir conocimiento. El ojo, el oído y la lengua son como caballos salvajes que no tienen riendas; aprendan el arte de la meditación (dhyana), por medio de la cual los sentidos pueden ser controlados y la voluntad dirigida hacia dentro, en dirección al dominio sobre los sentimientos y emociones. Los hogares y las naciones que carecen de frenos para su sensualidad
nunca podrán sobrevivir ni prosperar. (Divino Discurso, 26 de julio de 1969)

 

A home is filled with love, with the sacrifice that love involves, the joy that love radiates, and the peace that love imparts. The brick and mortar structure where parents and children spend their lives is a house, not a home; neither children yearn for it nor parents find peace therein. In your homes, one discipline all of you must heed is – the control of the senses! If you give them free rein, they will drag you into calamity. Education must render you monarch of your talents which are your tools for acquiring knowledge. The eye, the ear, the tongue are like wild horses that have no reins; learn the art of meditation (dhyana) by which the senses can be controlled and the will directed inwards, towards the mastery of feelings and emotions.
