En primer lugar, practiquen la actitud de «soy tuyo». Que la ola descubra y reconozca que pertenece al mar. Esto no es fácil. A la ola le lleva largo tiempo reconocer que el vasto mar debajo de sí, es lo que le da existencia. El ego es tan potente que no le permite la humildad de inclinarse ante el mar. «Soy tuyo, Tú eres el amo. Soy un sirviente, Tú el soberano. Soy un esclavo». Esta actitud mental domará al ego. El siguiente paso es: «eres mío»; aquí la ola exige el apoyo del mar como derecho propio. El Señor debe aceptar la responsabilidad de cuidar y guiar a la persona. Surdas dijo: «Eres mío, no te dejaré; te aprisionaré en mi corazón, no escaparás», ¡y el Señor lo complació! La última etapa es «Tú eres yo». Soy sólo la imagen, Tú eres la Realidad.

First, practise the attitude of “I am Yours”. Let the wave discover and acknowledge that it belongs to the sea. This is not easy. The wave takes a long time to recognise that the vast sea beneath gives it its existence. The ego is so powerful that it will not permit it to be so humble, as to bend before the sea. “I am Yours; You are the Master. I am a servant; You are sovereign. I am bound.” This mental attitude will tame the ego. The next step is: “You are mine”, where the wave demands the support of the sea as its right. The Lord must take the responsibility of guarding and guiding the individual. Surdas said, “You are mine; I will not leave You; I shall imprison You in my heart; You shall not escape,” and the Lord obliged! The last stage is: “You are I” — I am but the image, and You are the Reality. All is One. Duality is but delusion. (Divine Discourse, Sep 08, 1963)
